What is proofreading?
Proofreading, revision, review… This service has many names but at their core, they all mean the same thing: The correction of errors and mistakes within a particular text in order to make it ready for publishing. The client and their needs determine which particular points need attention. However, the most common areas are: grammar, punctuation, spelling, logical coherence, and of course general meaning. In the case of a translated text, the source and target texts are normally compared in order to ensure that the target text conveys the source text meaning and is fit for the intended purpose. And, of course, when it comes to a transcreated text, on top of the purely linguistic aspects, the focus of my revision will be on target audience effect, function and message.
